When you strip a thread in the block it is more than likely going to happen when you are assembling your new re-built engine. What a sinking feeling when you pull the head bolt down and it keeps going without setting off the torque wrench. Well all is not lost. We can fit heli-coils into the block without you having to strip the motor down past the head. We may need to use your original head as an alignment aid so if it is needed, it will have to be stripped for this purpose.

Currently we have the following heads to use as alignment aids:

  • Holden 6 red,blue,black
  • Holden V8 253-308
  • Holden/Nissan  ECCS VL
  • Holden Ecotec 3.8L V6
  • Mitsubishi Astron
  • Ford 4.2L

Of course the smarter thing to do is plan on replacing all the worn threads during the re-build and save on the heart-ache later.

We are not restricted to only re-threading blocks. We currently can also heli-coil the following threads:

Metric

Imperial

5mm x .8 1/4" x 20 tpi
6mm  x 1.0 5/16" x 18 tpi
8mm x 1.25 3/8" x 16 tpi
10mm x 1.5 7/16" x 14 tpi
12mm x 1.75 1/2" x 13 tpi
  1/2" x 20 tpi

We can special order other thread sizes to do the job for you at no additional cost.
